History of the Teppanyaki/Hibachi Burrito, aka THE VOLCANORITO
Our Volcano Grille journey has been fueled by the incredible creativity of our devoted customers. They’ve been the driving force behind some of our most innovative ideas, and we’ve embraced each one with open arms. Even the ones that seemed a bit out there at first!
I vividly recall the moment when the spark of inspiration for a fast-casual teppanyaki joint first ignited within me. It was met with a mix of skepticism and curiosity, but I’ve learned that the most revolutionary ideas often start out as the most unconventional ones.
We started getting requests from our loyal customers to wrap our mouthwatering Teppanyaki Plates into a burrito! An Asian burrito? Now that’s a concept that caught my attention. It took a bit of time for me to fully wrap my head around it (pun intended!) hehe, but eventually, I decided to just give it a shot, business was dead, we had nothing to lose, except the precious little bit of money we spent on a litte bag of tortillas.
Back then, healthy eating was all the rage, so I decided to dub it a “wrap” to stay on-trend. But let’s be real—it didn’t exactly set the world on fire. It was a niche favorite among the brave souls who dared to try it, but it struggled to find its footing on the menu, so I took it off.
But as they say, timing is everything. When we relocated a few years later, I decided to give our wrap another shot, this time rebranding it as The Teppanyaki Burrito. And guess what? People were ordering it, but the reviews weren’t the best. So I took it off, again.
Fast forward to just a couple of years ago, and I made the decision to resurrect The Teppanyaki Burrito once more thanks to the very good suggestion from a Lasvegasfood influencer, but this time I decided if I was going to do this again, I was going to take it seriously and not just throw a plate into a tortilla. I really thought about how I would reinvent it, envisioning it not as a mere gimmick, but as a culinary masterpiece waiting to be the next big thing. And boy, did it pay off! Our revamped creation, now known as The VOLCANORITO, has become an absolute sensation, delighting taste buds and igniting passions with every bite.
So, here’s to our loyal customers and their endless wellspring of inspiration. After all, in the world of Volcano Grille, there’s no such thing as a crazy idea—just a delicious one waiting to be discovered!
